For one of my senior studios, my class dedicated six weeks designing a high concept for a theme park in Venice, Italy. Using an existing land, we redesigned three islands as if a theme park could be reconstructed into that space.
“Novus Experientia” is the name of the theme park. We divided Novus Experientia into five lands that each have their own related theme and story. From guests transportation to gift shops, we included everything a theme park would have. Each land is portraying an underlying meaning that describes a historical element of the Venetian society. I decided to design my concept within the land “Citta Sommersa,” which in English means, “sunken city.”
Within Citta Sommersa, I designed and modeled an underwater restaurant. My inspiration came from Neptune, the Roman god of sea. “Neptune Ristorante Italiano,” is designed to be a large-scale fine dining seafood restaurant for guests of the park. Guests enter the restaurant from Citta Sommersa by taking an elevator below earth’s surface. I wanted to conceptually design a restaurant that has modern looks with roman architecture within the restaurant.
Neptune is engaging, interactive, and memorable for everyone who wants to be under the sea.
